๐Ÿ’Ž Gates of Olympus 1000 Multipliers โ€” 1000ร— Orbs Explained

๐Ÿ“˜

Last updated: May 2026. Multiplier orb data from 220 test spins and 80 bonus rounds on the 1000 variant.

The multiplier orb is the signature mechanic of every Gates of Olympus variant โ€” and the 1000 distinguishes itself by adding a single new value to the top of the orb table: the 1,000ร— orb. This article goes deep on how the multiplier system works, how the new 1,000ร— orb changes the math, and how stacking behaves in base game vs free spins.

The full orb table

Gates of Olympus 1000 has these multiplier orb values in its pool:

Orb valueApproximate landing frequencyVisual indicator
2ร—~35% of orbs landedSmallest orb, faint blue glow
3ร—~20%Slightly larger, brighter blue
4ร—~12%Light purple
5ร—~10%Medium purple
10ร—~8%Bright purple
25ร—~6%Purple-gold mix
50ร—~4%Gold-tinged
100ร—~3%Full gold
250ร—~1.5%Pulsing gold
500ร—~0.4%Glowing gold with particle effects
1,000ร—~0.1%Crowned gold orb, full screen-shake celebration

The 1,000ร— orb is the only new value vs the original. Every other orb value (2ร— through 500ร—) appears in both the original and the 1000 at similar frequencies.

Base game multiplier behaviour

In the base game, multiplier orbs work like this:

  1. You spin. A winning combination lands (8+ matching symbols).
  2. During the win animation, Zeus may randomly drop an orb onto the grid.
  3. The orb has a multiplier value visible on it (somewhere from 2ร— to 1,000ร—).
  4. That orb's multiplier applies to THIS tumble's win only.
  5. After the win pays out, the orb disappears.
  6. The tumble continues โ€” new symbols cascade in.
  7. If the next tumble wins, a fresh orb might (or might not) appear.

Critical: in base game, orbs are one-shot. They apply to a single tumble and vanish. There's no carry-over between tumbles or spins.

Practical implication: even if a 1,000ร— orb lands in base game, it only multiplies that single tumble's win. If the tumble's symbol win was 2ร— of stake, the 1,000ร— orb pays 2,000ร— of stake โ€” a great hit, but only for that one tumble. The next tumble starts fresh.

This is why base-game 1,000ร— orbs are visually amazing but mathematically less impactful than free-spins 1,000ร— orbs. In base game, you need a big symbol win on the same tumble as the orb to see big results. In free spins, the orb's multiplier carries through to every remaining spin.

Free spins multiplier behaviour โ€” the persisting stack

Free spins is where multiplier mechanics get powerful:

  1. The free spins round starts with a running multiplier total of 0.
  2. Every time an orb lands during the round, its value is added to the running total.
  3. The running total is applied as a multiplier to every winning spin's symbol value in the round.
  4. The running total persists across spins for the duration of the round (and through re-triggers).
  5. It resets only when the round ends.

Visualised:

Free spin #Orb landedRunning totalSymbol winSpin payout
150ร—50ร—4ร—4 ร— 50 = 200ร— of stake
2100ร—150ร—0 (no win)0
3(none)150ร—3ร—3 ร— 150 = 450ร—
4250ร—400ร—00
5500ร—900ร—5ร—5 ร— 900 = 4,500ร—
6(none)900ร—2ร—2 ร— 900 = 1,800ร—
71,000ร—1,900ร—00
8(none)1,900ร—3ร—3 ร— 1,900 = 5,700ร—

Total from spins 1-8 of this example round: 12,650ร— of stake. Add the remaining 7 spins of the 15 free spins round and you can see how the cap at 15,000ร— becomes the binding constraint, not whether your luck "could" exceed it.

The 1,000ร— orb โ€” when it shows up

In our test sample, the 1,000ร— orb landed:

  • In 3 of 80 bonus rounds (3.75%)
  • 0 times in 220 base-game spins (consistent with the ~0.1% landing rate)
  • Once across our combined sample in a re-triggered free spins extension
  • Never twice in the same round (theoretically possible but extremely rare)

The animation when a 1,000ร— orb lands is dramatic โ€” full-screen lightning, brief slow-motion effect on the orb, a heavy bass-drop in the soundtrack. Pragmatic Play designed it to feel like a moment, and it does.

Stacking strategy thinking

Players sometimes ask: "Should I bet bigger to chase the 1,000ร— orb?" The answer is no โ€” bet size doesn't affect orb landing frequency, only the AUD value of each orb's contribution. The math is identical whether you stake A$0.20 or A$125. The 1,000ร— orb appears with the same frequency. What changes is what 1,000ร— of stake means in dollars.

Other strategy thinking:

  • Don't grind through losing spins waiting for orbs. Orbs land randomly; bankroll burned is bankroll burned.
  • Trust the average. A bonus round will produce some number of orbs (averaging 3-6 per round). Don't expect every round to feature a 1,000ร— orb โ€” most won't.
  • Lock in big rounds when they happen. A round that pays 1,000ร— of stake is worth banking. Variance will undo unbanked profit fast.
  • Bet at a level where the 100ร— Bonus Buy doesn't hurt. Bonus Buy is the most direct route to the orb table. At a stake where 100ร— of stake is a manageable amount (not your full bankroll per click), Bonus Buys are a reasonable strategy.

Multiplier comparison: 1000 vs original vs Super Scatter

VariantTop orb valuePersisting in free spins?Max bonus round
Gates of Olympus (2021)500ร—Yes5,000ร— cap
Gates of Olympus 1000 (2024)1,000ร—Yes15,000ร— cap
Gates of Olympus Super Scatter (2025)1,000ร—Yes + Super Scatter multiplier mechanic50,000ร— cap

The 1000 sits between the original and Super Scatter on multiplier power. Same top orb value as Super Scatter (1,000ร—), but Super Scatter adds a separate Super Scatter bonus mechanic that pushes its cap even higher.

Common multiplier misconceptions

A few myths to clear up:

"Orbs are guaranteed once per spin." False. Orbs are random on winning spins; many spins produce no orb at all.

"The 1,000ร— orb only appears in the bonus." False โ€” it can appear in base game too, just rarely. But it has more impact in the bonus due to persistence.

"Bigger bets attract bigger orbs." False. Orb landing values are pure RNG. Bet size doesn't influence orb selection.

"Auto-spinning through orbs misses out." False โ€” the math is identical whether you manually spin or auto. Watching is just more fun.

"There's a 'hot' multiplier streak." False โ€” RNG resets per orb. Previous orbs don't influence the next.

A note on visual design

The 1000 variant's orb celebrations are noticeably more dramatic than the original:

Orb landingOriginal animation1000 animation
2-10ร—Brief gold flashSame brief flash
25-100ร—Glow + light camera shakeGlow + slightly more shake + particles
250-500ร—Heavier glow + sound emphasisSame + extra particle bloom
1,000ร—(doesn't exist)Full screen flash, sustained slow-mo, bass-heavy chord, character cheer

Pragmatic Play deliberately reserved the most dramatic animation for the new top-tier orb, so when it lands you know it. The audio cue alone โ€” a deep, sustained chord โ€” is unmistakable from across a room.

Quick FAQ

Can the 1,000ร— orb land in base game? Yes โ€” same probability as in free spins (~0.1% of orbs). It just has less impact in base game because it doesn't persist.

Do orbs always show their value before they land? Yes โ€” the orb's multiplier number is visible from the moment Zeus drops it onto the grid.

How many orbs in an average bonus round? Across our 80-round sample, 3-6 orbs per round was the modal range, with rare rounds producing as few as 1 or as many as 9.

Does the 1,000ร— orb light up the room differently each time? The animation is consistent โ€” same visual every appearance. But it's striking enough that it never gets old.

Can multiple 1,000ร— orbs land in the same round? Theoretically yes; in our 80 rounds we observed it 0 times. Compounding probability: roughly 1 in 10,000+ rounds.

Does the orb's animation slow the game down? Bigger orbs have longer celebration animations (1,000ร— takes ~3 seconds). Smaller orbs are <1 second. Mechanically identical.
