Last updated: May 2026. Walkthrough written from the perspective of someone who's never spun the 1000 variant before. If you've played the original, the controls are identical โ skip to "What's different in the 1000".
Gates of Olympus 1000 looks intimidating on screen โ Zeus throwing lightning, glowing orbs landing on the grid, win counters spinning up faster than your eye can track. The truth is the controls are simple: pick a stake, hit spin, watch the math. Everything beyond that is the engine doing its job. This walkthrough takes you from a fresh casino account to your first confident bonus round on the 1000 variant.

Step 1 โ Open Gates of Olympus 1000 at an AU casino
Sign up at any of the four featured casinos, verify your account, deposit, and search the lobby for "Gates of Olympus 1000" (or sometimes just "Olympus 1000"). It's listed under Pragmatic Play in most lobbies and usually sits in the "Popular" or "New" tabs at launch and continues to live in the Pragmatic section thereafter.
Don't confuse it with the original "Gates of Olympus" or with "Gates of Olympus Super Scatter" โ all three sit side-by-side in most AU casino lobbies. The 1000 variant has a distinctive purple-and-gold splash card with a large "1000" badge over Zeus's chest.
If you just want to learn the game without depositing, every casino offers a free demo with A$1,000 of play credits. Run a few hundred demo spins to feel the rhythm before going real money.
Step 2 โ Pick your stake
Tap the bet panel (bottom of the screen, left or right of the main spin button). The 1000 variant supports the full Pragmatic Play range from A$0.20 to A$125 per spin.
A practical guideline based on our test sessions:
- A$0.20 โ A$1.00: Learning / demo-feel sessions. You can run 200+ spins on a small deposit and chase your first 4-scatter trigger without bleeding the bankroll.
- A$1.00 โ A$5.00: Standard recreational play for a $50โ$100 deposit. Comfortable variance.
- A$5.00 โ A$25.00: Serious sessions on a bigger bankroll. Bonus rounds at this range can pay multiple thousands of AUD if multipliers stack.
- A$25.00 โ A$125.00: High-roller territory. The 15,000ร ceiling at max bet would be A$1.875 million โ be very sure your bankroll fits the variance before you go here.
Step 3 โ Understand the pays-anywhere mechanic
There are no paylines. Pragmatic Play built Gates of Olympus 1000 on a 6-reel, 5-row grid where wins are formed when eight or more of the same symbol land anywhere on the grid.
| Symbol count | Pay multiplier (rough) |
|---|---|
| 8โ9 | Small (often 0.5ร โ 2ร stake) |
| 10โ11 | Medium (2ร โ 10ร stake) |
| 12+ | Big (10ร โ 50ร stake for low-pays, up to 100ร stake for premium symbols) |
Wins don't require alignment. Eight crowns scattered randomly across the grid pay the same as eight crowns lined up neatly.
Step 4 โ Watch the tumble feature
When you win, those winning symbols disappear. The gaps fill with new symbols falling from above. If the new symbols form another winning combination, that pays too โ and the cycle repeats until no new wins land.
This is the tumble mechanic, and it's where most of the 1000's session value comes from. A single spin button press can trigger three, four, or even six tumbles in a row when symbols stack right. Each tumble in the chain is a fresh chance for Zeus's multiplier orb to drop.
Step 5 โ Read the multiplier orbs
At any point during a winning spin, Zeus might toss a glowing orb onto the grid. That orb has a multiplier value visible on its face โ anywhere from 2ร to 1,000ร in the 1000 variant.
In the base game, the orb's multiplier applies to the current tumble's win only. So if you land a 5ร base win on a tumble and a 100ร orb appears in the same tumble, that one tumble pays 500ร your stake โ not your full spin.
In the free spins round (covered below), it's different โ every orb that lands gets added into one running total that applies to every win in the round. That's where the big payouts come from.
Step 6 โ Trigger the free spins round
Land four or more Zeus scatter symbols anywhere on the grid in a single spin and you trigger 15 free spins. The scatter looks like a glowing Zeus head and is unmistakable when it lands.
Inside the free spins round:
- The grid switches to a darker, more dramatic background.
- Each orb that drops shows its multiplier and stays on screen.
- Every orb adds its value to one running total multiplier for the round.
- When a win lands, the running total multiplier is applied to that win.
- Land 3+ scatters during the round โ +5 extra spins.
The 1000ร orb in this round is a session-changer. A single 1,000ร orb landing in a free spins round, combined with even a moderate symbol win, produces results in the hundreds-of-times-stake range. Stack a 1,000ร with a couple of 200ร orbs and you're in 5-figure-AUD territory.
Step 7 โ Consider Ante Bet
The Ante Bet toggle (top-left of the screen) lets you pay an extra 25% per spin to double the natural frequency of Zeus scatters. On a A$1.00 base bet, your spin becomes A$1.25 โ but your chances of triggering free spins from each spin roughly double.
For most recreational sessions, Ante Bet on is the better long-term value. You're paying more per spin but hitting more bonus rounds across the session. Turn it off if you're grinding for base-game wins specifically.
Step 8 โ Or skip ahead with Bonus Buy
The Bonus Buy button (top-right) lets you pay 100ร your current stake to instantly trigger 15 free spins. At A$1.00 base stake that's A$100 to enter the bonus round directly.
The 1000 variant's Bonus Buy is the same cost as the original (vs Super Scatter's more expensive 150ร stake), and the ceiling is 3ร higher. If you're a Bonus Buy player, the 1000 is the best value of the three Gates variants.
But Bonus Buy is risky for casual sessions. Each Bonus Buy is its own gamble โ most rounds will return less than the 100ร you paid. The expected long-term value is positive, but variance is brutal. Don't Bonus Buy unless your bankroll can absorb 5+ losing rounds in a row.
Step 9 โ Read auto-spin settings before you queue 100 spins
The auto-spin menu lets you queue up to 100 spins automatically. Set realistic stop conditions:
- Stop if balance increases by [amount] โ locks in profit.
- Stop if balance decreases by [amount] โ backup loss limit.
- Stop on bonus trigger โ default ON; pauses auto when free spins start.
- Stop on single win above [amount] โ locks in big spike wins.
What's different in the 1000
If you played the original first:
- 1,000ร orb added to the multiplier table โ same orb visual, just a higher possible value.
- Max win raised to 15,000ร โ same path to the ceiling, just bigger.
- Animations are sharper and the orb landing has more weight โ purely cosmetic, but it feels different.
- Everything else โ controls, bet range, scatter trigger, free spins count โ is identical.
The 1000 doesn't require you to learn anything new. It just gives the same engine more headroom.
Common beginner mistakes
- Confusing the 1000 with the original. Check the badge before depositing. The math differs.
- Chasing the 1000ร orb in base game. It almost never appears in base-game tumbles. Wait for free spins.
- Auto-spinning without stop conditions. Bankroll evaporates faster than you expect.
- Bonus Buying at max bet on your first session. Start small. A 100ร Bonus Buy at A$5 stake is A$500 per click.
- Ignoring the RTP variant check. Always verify 96.50% in-game before depositing.

Quick FAQ
Do I need to know how to play the original first? No โ but if you have, the 1000 is identical in feel. The math change is mainly in the bonus round ceiling.
Can I play Gates of Olympus 1000 free? Yes โ every featured casino has a demo with A$1,000 of play credits. No account required at most.
What's the minimum spin in AUD? A$0.20.
How long does a typical session last? A A$50 deposit at A$1.00 stake typically gives you 50โ150 spins before you hit a bonus trigger or run dry.
Is Bonus Buy worth it on the 1000? Worth more than on the original (same cost, higher ceiling) but worth less than on Super Scatter (much cheaper, only slightly lower ceiling). Best Bonus Buy value of the three variants.
Can I switch between the original and the 1000 mid-session? Yes โ same casino account, both games in the lobby. No re-login required.
